Director of Communications and Community Relations

Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC)

Tony Marks began his career in communications as a political reporter outside Memphis, TN, before he moved to Washington, D.C., in 2002 and joined the U.S. Senate office of Edward M. Kennedy. There, he developed a passion for building communications strategies in service of policy and political goals. After five years, he left Capitol Hill to help build the communications practice of a fast-growing lobbying firm, The Raben Group, LLC, focused on providing progressive non-profits with top-level tactics.

In 2008, he joined Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign and served as deputy communications director for Oregon, where he localized one of the most sophisticated and ground-breaking political campaigns in our nation’s history. Instead of joining the administration, Tony moved to Nashville, TN, to be part of the city’s expanding creative and community-focused culture.

Tony is now the Director of Communications and Public Relations for the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, where he oversees communications efforts for the non-profit’s entertainment offerings, nationally-respected arts education programming, and the institution as a whole.
