Karla Chavez was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and immigrated  to Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of five. She received her Associates degree from Volunteer State Community College, where she graduated cum laude and was awarded a full-tuition Trustee Scholarship to continue her education at  Lipscomb University.


While at Lipscomb, Karla served as president of the Public Relations Student Society of America, member of Alpha Chi honor society and member of Lipscomb’s Presidential Ambassador Council. She also served as treasurer, communications director, and community service coordinator for Futuro, a professional program for college students through the Tennessee Latin American Chamber of Commerce (TLACC). Through Futuro, she interned for HCA and held an ambassadorship with Google.


Karla has a passion for serving others and volunteers for non-profits including TIRCC and Open Table. She co-chaired the 2015 Iroquois Steeplechase luncheon and has served as a board member for both the TIRRC and the Diversity Committee at Volunteer State Community College. Karla currently serves on the board of TLACC and Justice for our Neighbors.


Karla graduated from Lipscomb University magna cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations and Digital Marketing. She now works for her alma mater as the Davidson County admissions counselor.
